has been awarded a turnkey contract to commence the next stage of modernisation for Hagalund Depot in Solna, just outside Stockholm, Sweden.  

Commissioned by Jernhusen, the contract is valued at approximately Skr920m聽($83.43m).

It is intended to address both current and future maintenance needs for trains in the region.聽

The depot, with a history dating back to the early 1900s, is said to have undergone development to accommodate the maintenance of an increasing number of trains.  

The new phase of modernisation includes NCC constructing a new depot with vehicle lifts.

In addition, the project aims for a Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) Very Good environmental rating.聽聽

The focus is said to be on reusing materials, with equipment from demolished buildings being dismantled and repurposed for this or other Jernhusen-commissioned projects.聽

Construction is expected to start immediately, with an anticipated completion by the end of 2026.  

NCC Building Sweden head Niklas Sparw said: 鈥淣CC is currently building depots in both H枚gdalen and 脛lvsj枚 south of Stockholm, and has also built a number of train depots across the country. We are now taking further steps to develop the rail infrastructure for not only Stockholm but for all of Sweden, which is exciting to be part of.  

鈥淭he partnership with Jernhusen is a key factor for success because the existing depot and track area will continue to operate throughout the construction period.鈥� 

The contract will be registered under the NCC Building Sweden business area in the second quarter of this year. 

Last month, NCC secured a turnkey contract to modernise 210 apartments in the Mindeparken residential area of Herning, Denmark.聽聽
